Very Happy with my hair
by Shauna13 at Citysearch
first time there. been to allure and beauty room. really love hair play now. had some sketchy results at my last salon and was really scared to go get my color done again. ive been to 3 different people for my color now at hair play and have had great results each time. the prices are cheaper than my last place. i still paid almost 200 for cut color and hilite tho. but if your gonna pay for it, you mite as well be happy. i am.
cut was 30
color was around 150
and wax was 20
the guy at the desk was a big help to. hes booked my appointment every time i called.
now all my family and friends go there. even my dentist gets her hair done there. lol
- Pros: location and stuff
- Cons: parking and busy place
Great

I'm a guy - so I dont really care who cuts my hair there. Normally the wait is around 10 minutes. Sometimes its longer.. But if I ever want to go shorter they get me right back in free of charge.
- Pros: Great people
- Cons: very busy. small parking lot
I don't recommend going here...
by wtf0v3r at Citysearch
I've been going to this place for about 10 months, so for not good. Here are some examples:
First of all, don't ever go here for elumen. Elumen is supposed to be permenant; when I went here for it, it lasted 3 weeks. $250 for a "permanent color" and a cut- which they also screwed up on the cut.
Secondly, parking is VERY limited and cramped. Most likely you'll end up blocking out someone, since you can only park in front of the building or to the side.
Last but not least, I ALWAYS make appointments- and yet, I've always had to wait at least 15 minutes. Most recently (February '09), I've waited 40 minutes, which I felt was more than enough time, because the stylists really are not that good. They're socially awkward and full of themselves, and they give mediocre hair cuts.
All in all, I definitely WOULD NOT recommend a friend to go there.
Great place, especially if you NEED to be a walk-in
by harbrinn at Citysearch
for such a high traffic salon, it's possible to be a walk-in most days, weekends are a little more difficult but it can be done, especially if they know you're having a "bad hair day" and just "have" to get your mojo back. (I always feel better after my hair is done).
I've been there a few times, I won't tell you the name of my hairstylist because when I share "favorites" they always become booked and I can't get mine done :P
I study all the stylists when I'm getting my hair cut/colored and they all seem very qualified.
Prices are resonable and you can always drop your husband at Red Robin's down the street while you're geeting your hair done and he'll be happy too!
- Pros: Smiling friendly staff
- Cons: Parking lot is to small
Best place in Alaska

I've been going to Hair Play since 2002 and have seen atleast 5 different stylist for my color.
I've been happy everytime. I had a normal stylist who moved out of state and have kinda bounced around ever since. They really know what there doing and whats really cool is that since Ive been to so many people everyone knows me. They all say hi and collaberate on what color I should get this time. Its a fun place to go. They're pretty good at getting me in when I need to make an appt and the prices are great (and I get a lot of work done).
I'm not sure what that other review is all about.. but man, they sound crazy. Trust me, you'll love hairplay!
- Pros: Location, Service and staff.
- Cons: Small parking lot.
HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!
by ggggeli at Citysearch
I made a same day appointment to get my roots touched up before my sister's wedding. I gave the woman my processing information the last stylist who did my highlights gave me (and BEST EVERY, too bad it was out of state :( ) and she came back and said she would not put this on my hair because it would fall out, and she would mix up another color. Then when she started she painted it on instead of highlighting!!!!! HUGE mistake! when I left I had bright orange roots that did not blend with the rest of my hair. She only did the crown of my head, so when I put half my hair up, you could see an inch of orange in my roots, not natural at all and it cost me $170!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I should have refused to pay but i didn't know that was legal. I called and complained and was told to come back the next day to have the same stylist fix it. She did her best but it still looked horrible. It's been almost a year, and my new stylist says I'll be "color correction for life" meaning every time I get highlights or color, I have to do it 2 or 3 times before my hair wil take- 3 is more expensive than 1! I will never go back, and think everyone needs to know what happened to me. I wasn't even offered a discount! DO NOT GO THERE!!!!
