Car shop useless!

by LuckyDucky30

The auto portion of Pyramid is a joke. The young men that you have to deal with are all arrogant. They openly talk about other customers whom they feel were "pains in the asses" and if you disagree with anything they do you are now in that group. We gave not only them, but the manager, David, many attempts to correct the problems with getting our car remote start done. They overbook almost everyday and wonder why people are annoyed when they don't have their cars done when promised. They quote prices with statements like "I am 99% positive it will be X amount of money" then that 1% turns into another couple hundred dollars because they seem to have no real idea on how to complete a project in a timely, correct, and within what was 99% promised as a price. If you point out any errors in their ways than it becomes all your fault that something went wrong. Please try 1 of the many other audio locations in Anchorage!

  • Cons: Customer service, skill of tech's, overbooking

Depends on which Pyramid you visit.

by akalex

Pyramid Audio/Video has two separate businesses and I think that the blastings should note that. One business is Pyramid Car Audio and the other Pyramid Audio/Video. I have had dealings with both. While my experiences at the car audio store weren't horrid as the other posters experienced I do feel they consistently try to oversell the customer what is really needed though I've never had issues with gear I've purchased there or the installs. It was all pretty simple stuff.

As far as the home audio/video store goes I've always received excellent, knowledgable service. They've got the only salesperson in town who really knows turntables which is great.

  • Pros: Home Store: Excellent soundroom for high end gear, good customer service, friendly knowledgable staff, and occassional excellent inventory clearance sales.
  • Cons: Car store: Try too hard to oversell the gear and get people into systems they really don't need. I've had a couple system quotes from them but have always ended up going elsewhere.

not worth it

by puttinthesmakdown

disgusting store, I had them install a stereo and I had to go back three times and they still didnt get it right. There was a couple of punk kids; the kind of punk kids that are into weird things. They were installing stereos. Of course if your into that kind of thing your going to the right spot. However if you want good service, buy off of ebay and have it installed at Best Buy.

Best Custom Home Entertainment

by bustedbone

1. This is NOT a car stereo/audio Installation store.

I was referred to Pyramid by my contractor to look into home entertainment/surround sound systems.

They were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the products/components they had in their store. I was shown everything from low end to high end components and discussed the pros and cons oof each for different types of rooms/applications. I was further educated by the staff in order to look into other systems outside of their store and to compare sound quality as well as price. I found the products I chose to sound much better than the Bose system I was previously looking into and for about half the price.

Overall I was very pleased with Pyramid.

Thumbs up!

Awful store

by nickhogan

I was looking to hook my iPod up to my car, a 2003 Honda Accord. This is a very common car, typically the #1 or 2 sold car in America. They did not stock the appropriate part to do perform this installation. I ordered the part myself off the internet, and the people at Pyramid said they would install it.

About a half hour into the "installation," they informed me that it would take six hours, and that they couldn't even guarantee a successful installation. Six hundred dollars is what it would cost me there to hook this cable up. I of course declined.

I downloaded some instructions from the internet and connected the cable myself shortly thereafter. It took me roughly an hour and I've never done anything like that before in my life. It just plugged in, there was nothing complicated about the connection; the hardest part was disassembling the trim.

Pyramid Audio wanted to charge me six hundred dollars for six hours of labor to "install" a part that merely plugged into my existing stereo. I've never encountered such a blatant rip-off in my life and I hope this statement helps someone some day.

My email's listed, please email me if you've encountered these jerks as well.

  • Pros: None.
  • Cons: They didn't stock common parts, they charge ridiculous fees to unknowing customers
