Employees only like tough locals

Dangerous place at night. They seem to cater to the Meth crowd. The staff is as unfriendly as the night patrons. This place used to be a good hangout, but now you are better off spending your money at any one of the other bars in town.
- Pros: food and beer
- Cons: dangerous
Great Food, great service, great location

Good times, good food and good people! Go check it out and form your own opinion.
If you're treated like an a**hole, you probably are one.
- Pros: Quality food and staff
- Cons: finding an empty seat
Quit Whining

I stumbled onto this page while researching the F. St. Station company history.
I have read review after review on this site saying the F. St. Station is an unsafe place to dine. It is a Bar in downtown Anchorage! While the increase in UAA hockey players has lead to some unsavory fits of adolescent violence, this is true of any bar in that area. Anytime a metropolitan area has 6-8 popular drinking spots within walking distance there is bound to be unpreventable problems.
As far as blaming the staff, this is just poor judgment. I have been witness to 3 altercations that have resulted there. In one an individual reacted poorly and tried to fight a nearby man who made a comment. The security promptly contained and removed the individual. The other was shook up but handled himself fine. Alcohol was a FACTOR!
If you can not hold your own in a bar in Alaska then don't go. The F. St. is no different then any other bar in the area that is afflicted with the same problem. I have witnesses countless fights in bars downtown. Guess how many punches I have received in 7 years of attending these establishment. None. Maybe I'm lucky.
Anytime there is a social gathering and different strangers mingle, there is bound to be some altercations. It happens at little league, and it happens at Alaskan bars. The street is an unsafe place to walk, but I bet you continue to walk over them everyday.
In closing, Go eat there in the afternoon. They have some of the best food in town year round. But anyone who expects to see a downtown Anchorage pubs best service after 9 p.m. is going to be disappointed. That's just how it is in that area at that time of night. Security does there best to provide service to all and filter out those that are of an unsavory crowd. But beware... It's a bar. Alcohol will be served there, and if you haven't been around inebriated people before, then you probably won't like it.
Quit Whining and go get your stitches.
- Pros: Great Food, Knowledgeable staff, Suicidally Awesome Chili !
- Cons: It's a bar downtown
Still the best food
by woxof at Citysearch
Lot of talk lately about bad things going on at F. St. I decided to go see for myself, as I have been away from Anchorage for a few years, and now back to stay. I found the food to still be some of the best around. The service was nothing to complain about either. Food arrived quickly, and was delicious, as I had remembered it from before. I don't know about the nature of the bar later at night, as I was there in the afternoon, and early evening on the few times I was there. I have no complaints at all. I tend to think some of the stories have been embellished as time goes by, and maybe people should hear the other side of the story before making a decision. Or stop by and see for yourself. Maybe the reports about staying away late at night or correct. So go there in the afternoon or early evening, and decide for yourself. I know that I'll continue to go there to enjoy the food.
- Pros: great food, nice atmosphere, excellent daily specials
- Cons: could use more room to dine at. limited table space.
Horrible Place To Eat, Expensive, EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE
by Vincepapale at Citysearch
Horrible food - small portions & I got sick right after leaving this place. Literally blew chow as I walked down the street. The health depart ment should be called.
The staff were very unfriendly - food came cold after 40 minutes. Waitress didn't care & I didn't trust to send it back.
Spoke to the hotel concierge when I got back. He told me there have been a number of problems with tourists getting beaten by catered locals and treated poorly by the staff.
I felt solace that I only threw up after leaving the over priced PIT!
Despite what paid tour guides may tell you - there are a lot of better places to eat & drink in Anchorage. I for one will steer clear of this place!!!
- Pros: Close Location
- Cons: Food, RUDE Service, Rowdy crowd, expensive, kitchen cleanliness
Terrible Customer Service at F St. Station!
by PeteX at Citysearch
I am a pilot and have stopped going to F Street Station. Their staff are rude, pretending to be overworked while lazily chatting among themselves. Terrible service!
If you want a fun place to go, Humpy's is it! Great place, good service, happy staff. Cheers!
- Pros: There are is nothing positive to say.
- Cons: Terrible staff. Treats the customer like dirt.
Avoid

A real crappy establishment with subpar management and horrible service. Waitresses have attitudes and bouncers can't keep control of the place. A hazard and security risk to all visitors. I would rather spend my evening at wafle house.

I am one of those who "used" to spend a lot of time and money in the place -and it is simple. Our layover hotel is right next-door at the Hilton.
After mind numbing hours in the jet, crossing multiple Time Zones and a little refresher nap in the room, it was a convenient rendezvous point where you could run into old friends and enjoy great food, nice atmosphere at reasonable cost.
It was a place I looked forward to patronizing regularly since the '80's, but I concur with the others who have left comments that it has become a very 'rough' and unfriendly crowd, including the wait staff!
Recently, two of my peers were assaulted there. The first was slugged from behind in a totally unprovoked attack, which left him with serious injuries. The second was the victim of assault & battery by the waitress, who apparently did not appreciate being asked if someone from the establishment had called 911 for his friend who was lying in pain on the ground.
I am very sad at the downturn of a formerly enjoyable way station. The owner is very aware that his clientele has changed for the worse and his staff is openly and criminally hostile to those whose business any rational businessperson would welcome.
CAUTION; you are taking a serious risk if you are in this establishment after 9 PM. The food is still good, the service, at any time leaves a lot to be desired. If you do decide to take the risk, you will be seeing a LOT fewer pilots (airline & local Air Force types) in there, as we have an organized ?Avoid It? campaign underway. We don?t want to see any more of our peers assaulted ?or worse.
- Pros: great food! Can't get lost going back to Hilton
- Cons: Hostile, aggressively violent clientele and wait staff -owner knows, doesn't apparently care
Aviod unless you want to be smacked by one of the hired help.

Until recently the service has been pretty good. There has been a definite change in the attitude of both the staff and management. I won't be going there anytime soon. Make sure you travel in packs.
- Pros: Within crawling distance of the Hilton.
- Cons: You might get slapped by someone who works there. And the boss doesn't care!
Avoid it

There's a reason you don't see many locals there. I am one, and I've been in there three times in eight years. That was plenty. F Street has always had an unfriendly atmosphere (and reputation), our friends were asked to leave once because they had a child with them, at lunchtime. The best word I can think of to describe the servers is hostile, and the service is not good at best. I have never understood why the pilots hang out there, there are many better places to have a beer in Anchorage, frankly this one is awful. I am giving it one star because zero is not an option.
- Pros: The heater works.
- Cons: Everything else
