Gets better all the time.
Small sushi joint located in what used to be a fast food restaurant (Kenny Rogers Chicken was once in same location).
The service at Susha Ya is always cordial and friendly, and so far - everything I've tried has been fresh and delicious.
The plating of the sushi is very artful and beautiful.
It's almost like the Sushi Ya reads these reviews, because they really are striving to become one of the best sushi spots in Anchorage. With as much competition as there is around here, it may take a while for them to take top honors.. but I have to give them credit for trying! :o)

Fresh Sushi, but you must be willing to pay for it..
I went to Sushi Ya from a friend's recommendation and sat at the Sushi Bar. The decor is quaint but friendly and the service was reasonably quick when I was there. I wasn't impressed with the prices compared to sushi restaurants in NYC, Florida, Seattle, and the Midwest but everything is more expensive here in Alaska. Portions were generous and the chef gave me additional Nigiri at the end of my meal as a way of thanking me for depleating my bank account.

Great Sushi! Horribly Take-out service.
Well a friend of mine and I stopped in to order a few sushi rolls to-go. first, I must say its very beautiful small and quaint, but very inviting. However we left and came back about 25min- 30min later and they hadn'yt even started our rolls. I was a little dissapointed that they were not try very hard to hook a first tie customer...Not sure I would want to be waited on here if I every did want to sit down and eat in the restaurant....But the rolls were completely opposite of the service...Terrific!!!

great rolls.
I've been here about 5 times and the service has gotten progressively worse every time. One time I was there, I watched a couple come in 30 minutes after me, and get their food before me! And I hadn't ordered anything other than 2 rolls and sashimi. I ended up there for over an hour & half! But the food is the second best sushi I've had in town. So if you have plenty of time to spare, it's worth the try.
