So sad - out of business.
Sadly, closed since it burned down under mysterious circumstances a few years ago - now a billiard parlor.
One would think, with all the Texans in Alaska, barbecue wouldn't be far behind. Oddly enough, Texas Q was a long time coming.
Wayne's has done it right, not losing much in translation. The key is the big commercial "pits" that would do anyplace in Texas proud. The meats are the thing, of course - the brisket is the best I've had in Alaska (by the way - the first reviewer is right - skip the lean.) Counter service - seat yourself.
The menu offers something for everyone (except vegans), plenty of good sides as well. They even got the authentic (wierdly Texan) raw onions, jalapenos, dill pickles and fluffy white bread (yes, the commercial square kind) - a real Texas touch. The only thing they missed is the banana pudding, which most places in Texas recognize as essential.
For Texas barbecue in Anchorage, Wayne's is it.
jennjohn. Beef mBrisket is outstanding, don't bother with the "lean", go for the cholesterol!!! St. Louis Ribs are great, turkey, chicken and pork follow with a good taste, gets expensive if you have a real hunger...sausages currently 99 cents and GOOD.
