Dollar beer, seriously, $1. Chilkoot Charlie's (a.k.a. 'Koots') is such an awesome hangout. They have sports on the tvs, great music, different themed bars, it's ....awesome. You would think the cheap beer is cheap tasting, but they have a huge selection of great beers on tap for a dollar. A dollar! They also feature Sal's Grill, who has the best pizzas and calzones in Anchorage. To make it even better, Koots has a live band every night, Ettinger, Sonic Overdrive, as well as karaoke. Comedy shows all of the time. I just saw Doug Stanhope right before the New Year. Talk about bringing in the new year. I am amazed. Chilkoot Charlie's is by far, my favorite bar, and I will continue to go in for the drinks and surroundings. Thank you, Koots!

koots rocks!. I've gone to bars in las vegas and I'd choose koots over any bar in the us.

Good place for new people in town. Overall good, average priced drinks, a good place to meet people, friendly crowd. Multiple bars with different atmospheres and a stage for live music. The only negatives were the smoking and the cover charge.

User review by bookluvr65. Since the club scene is limited here in Anchorage, Koots is an alright place to go out drinking and dancing with your friends. The service certainly isn't the best. You have to wait too long for drinks and some of the staff are not very friendly. There doesn't seem to be any ventilation system so it gets extremely smokey and in the summer it can get unbearably hot because it gets so crowded and there is no air conditioning.

week day bar. this bar is only good during the week days, becuase after that it's not worth my time to spend 1 hour trying to get a drink when I can go home and make it in 10sec.

Hotness!. GREAT hosts, good crowd. Great place to go out and meet someone. Go early!

Lots of fun!. Chilkoots is a great place to have fun and meet a lot of different people. Only downside is that the mixed drinks are a little expensive, but if you like tap beer then this is the place to go for $1 beers.

wow!! party down. this is my second time going there and it rocks i love the band, the dj and the soo many places to mingle and alot of guys !!! Plus the drinks are awesome and good!!

Whatcha goin' do. Its got something for everyone...you can't really do much better here... and your never forced to put up with music you don't like you just switch to a different part of the bar...
