Bad lunch service

by Alaskagirl

The food is amazing everything i've tried is Delicious and Alaskan. The handcrafted beer are always so good, we would of loved more but our server with huge earrings just never came back and kept us waiting so we ended up drinking at Humpys. The dinner service is much better. Our server put her thumb in my chowder and i couldn't eat it. something about the lunch service went way downhill since the last time we visited anchorage. if you want the best experience go at night and make sure your server's name is not shaniqua or shanel or whatever it was because you won't get all the yummy beer you want!!

Completely Overrated

Out with a group on vacation. We had expectations of good brews and food given the reviews this place receives. I must say everyone in our group ( 4 adults) found this place not worth our time and money. Think TGIF's without the stripes. Seriously the food and beers were overpriced and bland. My wife's pizza made totinos frozen 0.99$ jobs look good. The beer was all yuppified coor's light. That and there is only one restroom that is shared with other business. The sounds and smells reminded me of being around a feed trough. Especially when you see the guy who cooks your food wear his apron in there. Gross. While in Anchorage we ran into others with the same opinions of this place. There are way better eating and drinking establishments in Anchorage. Unless you want to feel disappointed and grossed out don't go here!

Absolutely love the Thai Chicken pizza!

by alaskahockey

Glacier Brewhouse is listed under bars/pubs on this site, but in actuality - it is a restaurant that has a brewpub in it.

They make an incredible Thai Chicken pizza that rocks! Thin crust baked in a brick oven with a yummy peanut/thai sauce. It was tv cook Rachel Ray's favorite when she visited the Glacier Brewhouse! The pizzas are "personal size" and are intended for one person, although one (with a salad, chowder, or appetizer) would be perfect for two people. I prefer bringing home the leftovers! ;-)

The seafood chowder here is awesome and the fresh brews are fantastic. Love the homemade lemonade as well.

Very nice atmosphere~~

  • Pros: Delicious food, great staff, cozy atmosphere
  • Cons: You have to be lucky to find a great parking spot ;-)

Not on the top of my list of restuarants to return to

by krys29

Way over priced for the amount of food you get. I took family there that was from out of state. Overly spicy, but the waiter was decent. My family from out of state was not impressed as well. Overall the location is decent, and yes I agree the parking could be better.

  • Pros: service was decent
  • Cons: parking and too small of portions

Great Atmosphere and Food

by jmlee

The best calamari ever! Love the Shrimp and Smoked Salmon Caesar Salad, the Wild Mushroom Chicken Rigatoni, and the Bread Pudding! Also, don't forget to order the Big Woody in the winter. It's a great barley wine that they serve after the Beer and Barley Wine Festival in January. Be sure to make reservations since it is always busy.

  • Pros: Fireplace
  • Cons: Parking
